Canyon Lake, TX - Comal County
I conducted a site visit, created a thorough project take-off, and estimated the costs in order to provide an expert second opinion on a landscaping project.
I found that the landscape estimate provided to my client is about 16% (or $13,600.94) higher than what the work should reasonably cost.
This does not necessarily mean the contractor is being dishonest. Sometimes higher pricing reflects overhead, profit goals, or contingencies that were not transparent. Based on my experience and the scope of work, I believe my client is being asked to pay more than is necessary for this project.
My role here was to simply provide an expert second opinion so my client can make an informed decision.
Recommendations:
Ask the landscape contractor for a clear breakdown of their pricing.
Discuss where the differences lie between my estimate and their quote.
Use this information to negotiate a fairer contract price.
There were unaccounted-for details and costs that could lead to change orders. Ask the landscape contractor to confirm the fine grading of the native seed area is included and add connecting the gutter downspouts to SDR rigid pipe and bury the pipe away from the house foundation.
